Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Treatment

To make PRP, your doctor takes some of your blood, spins it to separate the platelets from the other cells, and then puts the platelets back into the liquid part of your blood (the plasma). Platelets have hundreds of specialized proteins called growth factors that aid healing.

It can be used to stimulate hair growth. PRP is injected into your scalp with a small needle. The idea is that the growth factors help to create or stimulate new hair follicles. It requires multiple sittings. After a few months, your hair could seem thicker and fuller than before. There aren't any side effects, though some people say the shots hurt, even with numbing techniques. PRP can be used in conjunction with hair transplants to kick-start hair growth or to help other treatments.

Topical application of PRP growth factors stimulates the rejuvenation of photoaged facial skin, improving its clinical appearance and inducing new collagen synthesis. Results typically last one to three weeks and the volume will essentially dissipate. Long-term effects, such as skin tightening, collagen production and enhanced skin quality, may take up to three to four months to be noticed and can last from six to 12 months
